Happy Thanksgiving, one and all! For the last few days, I've been busy doing the shopping and brining and baking to prepare for today's big feast. This is definitely one of my favorite days of the year. It really kicks off the whole season of joy in a wonderful way.
Though, I have to admit that I've already had the chance to enjoy a few holiday-oriented activities. Just last Saturday afternoon, I went out to the newly-renovated Vanderbilt Planetarium to see a show called "Season of Light." This took a close look at the winter sky and explained many of the year's end celebrations from an astronomical point of view. I must say that the new reclining seats in the planetarium are very comfortable and the images projected on to the dome above look terrific. After the show, I drove out to a house in the town of Coram to see the Elm Avenue Dancing Light Show. It is one of those experience where, if you have your car radio set to a certain station, the lights on the house will move in sync to the music. It was very festive and quite well done. Donations at the light show go toward the St. Jude Children's Hospital and the Make A Wish Foundation. I was happy to contribute.
Other than that, I made a little gingerbread village for today's dessert table and I also picked up my annual bundle of goodies for the Toys for Tots drive, which I will drop off sometime this weekend. Basically, everything is good. Hope it is with you as well. Cheers!

and bless his name."
