(Looking up through the trees
at a nature preserve. When I put this image
into greyscale, it kinda reminded me
of an Impressionist painting.)
(I think of the old joke:
"If everyone in the nation owned a red car,
what would it be?")
(During a recent visit to my old high school,
I saw that the spot where my locker once stood
has been turned into a sports trophy case.)
(Behind the scenes at Mostly Moptop's
Fab Fundraiser. I got to play a few John Lennon
riffs on my guitar for a good cause.
It was a fun evening.)
(Just a bit of Manhattan's
(This ornate treasure chest
sits in my foyer.)
(This old tea kettle
makes a great watering can.)
(Daylight Savings Time: I don't think of it as
losing an hour of sleep on a Sunday in March;
it is the gaining of an hour of sun everyday until November.
Anyway, this is a picture of daylight reflecting in the
swimming pool at the Veteran's Center.)
on the old guitar.
It plays like butter.)
(Different subjects, same perspective.
I like this series of images.)
(Looking forward to spring days
and getting outside again.)
(My fish tank.)
(The ceramic elephant
that sits on my foyer table.)
(A brightly-colored obstacle course.
Lots of fun.)
(Consider this the "before" picture.
In about 3 months time, this unremarkable
patch of snowy ground will be the site of the
Avant Garden Poetry Amphitheatre.)
(This is a 3-D puzzle of the Death Star.
Tricky to put together, but cool.)
on a chilly January afternoon.
I love the perspective here.)
(Happy New Year!
Wishing you a rockin' 2012!)
(God bless us,
(Exactly one week before Christmas
and all is well...)
(Christmas in New York City.
There's nothing like it.)
(Let there be light!)
(Sometimes amazing images happen
completely by accident. Such was the case with this
shot of Huntington Harbor.)
(There's nothing quite so refreshing to the spirit
as a hike through leaves on a crisp
(A scene from the 11/11/11 Party at the Valencia Tavern.
Eleven poets did the wave 11 times at 11:11.
One of those classic moments!)
(A building reflected
in the windows of another building.
I love this picture.)
(Hay, may your Hallowe'en
be a bone-rattling good time!
Raking makes for quite a lot of work,
but I adore the autumn leaves.)
(A kaleidoscopic array of vegetables
at the Fall Farmer's Market.)
(AH64 Apache Helicopter--
I put this model together on Saturday.
(This old cast iron potbelly stove
now makes its home in the garden.
Very interesting feature.)
(This wall of classic license plates
hangs in a novelty shop in Massachusetts.)
(Bus parts in sepia.
Commonplace things become new again
when seen in a different light.)
(A very nice 911 memorial on someone's front lawn.
It's kinda hard to believe that it's
already been a decade.)
(A series of fountains
in the lobby of the Huntington Hilton.
The sound they make is so soothing.)
in the wake of Hurricane Irene.
My block lost electricity for three days.)
Their seeds are sown in April,
their beauty is harvested in August.
(This ceramic garden gnome
belonged to my great-grandmother.
Very old and faded, but still in one piece.)
(Looking at an everyday object from a new angle
often reveals hidden beauty. So it was
with this old park bench.)
(Somewhere off of Connecticut.
I took this from the deck
of the Cross Sound Ferry.)
(African art adorning
a Manhattan ceiling.)
(The milk can in my garden.
So dented. So rusty. So worn.
So full of character.)
(It's been years since I've seen sky writing.
I was so excited. These planes went on to say,
"Hot summer fun at Mohegan Sun.")
(Beautiful sea shells
at the Hicksville Gregory Museum.)
(Colorful prizes from the claw game at the bowling alley.
I tried for the red chameleon in the back,
but couldn't get it.)
but couldn't get it.)
(Sidewalk chalk drawings -
a clear sign that summer is in the air.)
(The Mars Bar:
a true dive establishment
in Manhattan's East Village.)
(This garden is ornamented
with messages of love.)
May 29, 2011:
(This is the side door of a Greek restaurant.
The glass is painted black and the images are scratched
into the surface. The pigmentation is painted on the exterior
of the glass and the glow is actual sunlight shining through.
May 22, 2011:
(My uncle's lamb. This stuffed animal
is over 60 years old.)
May 15, 2011:
(There is so much amazing architecture
tucked into the nooks and crannies of Manhattan.
I just love this sea-foam green roof.)
May 8, 2011:
(Hopscotch marks painted on the pavement.
Simple things like this always make me smile.)
May 1, 2011:
(This is the bark of a tree in my backyard.
Up close like this, it's kinda hard to tell what it is.)
April 24, 2011:
(I've started working in my garden.
This is the edge of my birdbath surrounded by flora.)
April 17, 2011:
(Twine and wicker. I just thought
the juxtaposition of these textures was kinda neat.)
April 10, 2011:
(Always trying to see things
from a new perspective.)
April 3, 2011:
(The very first crocus of Spring 2011.
March 27, 2011:
(I love the depth here.)
March 20, 2011:
(This is a lighthouse off of Orient Point.
I snapped it last summer from the deck of the ferry.)
March 13, 2011:
(I used to get these from the gumball machines
for a quarter. Now, they cost a dollar.)
March 6, 2011:
(My grandmother's Hymnal.
I really like the character of old, worn books.)
February 27, 2011:
(Yellow fire hydrant standing amid snow-covered leaves.
I'm not sure why, but this picture just spoke to me.)
February 20, 2011:
February 13, 2011:
(Sunrise over South P Lot.
Great way to start a work day.)
February 6, 2011:
(There's nothing like live music.)
January 30, 2011:
(This picture is a true case of serendipity--
snapped completely by accident, yet quite fascinating.
One of my favorites.)
January 23, 2011:
(The notion of the "wise old owl" is a misnomer.
Owls are actually at the low end of bird intelligence.)
January 16, 2011:
(These columns look so regal against the snow.
Don't you think?)
January 9, 2011:
(Nice tusks. From the Museum of Natural History.)
January 2, 2011:
(This is the Chrysler Building
from the window of the Australian Consulate.)
December 26, 2010:
(A lonely wreath on the day after Christmas.)
December 19, 2010:
(My cheese and pepperoni platter.
A holiday classic.)
December 12, 2010:
from the upper west side.)
December 5, 2010:

I love the reflection of the lantern against
the backdrop of the city at night.)
November 29, 2010:
(The chandelier at the
Patchogue Theater for the Performing Arts.
November 21, 2010:
(Gobble gobble. This wild turkey makes its home
at the Holtsville Ecology Park. It will never be the centerpiece
of a Thanksgiving table.)
November 14, 2010:
(Colors of an amazing evening sky.)
November 7, 2010:
(I snapped this bridge while on the Circle Line
a few years ago.)
October 31, 2010:
(I discovered this spooky clocktower in Patchogue.
Perfect for Halloween night.)
October 24, 2010:
(The one that stands out from the crowd
is always the most interesting.)
October 17, 2010:
(The gnarly trunk of a nearby tree.)
